Volunteer Services

Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center Auxiliary was organized in April, 1993. Auxiliary members volunteer thousands of hours each year to contribute services to the hospital and the community.

Over the years, through various fund-raising efforts, the Auxiliary has purchased items for the hospital and has funded scholarships to area students who are pursuing their education in the medical field.

Auxiliary members serve throughout the hospital in many different areas such as greeting patients and visitors as they come to the hospital and operating the Auxiliary Gift Shop.

The Auxiliary members, men and women, are of all ages. Some are retired from successful professional careers but continue to have productive lives in volunteer service to others. Some are employed full or part time but desire to serve the community by volunteering at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center. Others are sampling experiences in the hospital environment to determine a career.

Membership is open to any person interested in contributing volunteer service to Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center.

An ACTIVE MEMBER participates in the volunteer programs of the Auxiliary. Dues of $5.00 are payable annually.

An INTERIM MEMBER is interested in the purpose of the Auxiliary, but is unable to participate in active volunteer service programs.

All volunteers are required to attend two orientations; a hospital orientation to learn about hospital policies and procedures and a volunteer orientation to learn about the various volunteer assignments and responsibilities. Volunteers must agree to have an annual TB skin test (at no charge to the volunteer).

There are several areas available to offer your services:

Auxiliary Gift Shop
Customer Service Host/Hostess

No volunteer is given an assignment that would cause the volunteer to feel uncomfortable.

Auxiliary Gift Shop

The Auxiliary Gift Shop contains a beautiful variety of affordable gifts, which are available for purchase by visitors, hospital staff and the community at large. See's Candy is sold seasonally (October - May) through the CV Gift Shop as a fundraiser and is the only retail seller in the area. Proceeds from the gift shop are returned to the community in scholarships, mini-grants, and other charitable contributions.

The Auxiliary has established Scholarship Funds for graduating high school seniors within the hospital service area, which includes Globe, Miami, Claypool, Roosevelt, Superior, Winkelman, Hayden, Kearny, San Carlos and Young, Arizona. These seniors must be motivated in pursuing a career in the health professions to qualify for these scholarships.
