The wait is over for local cancer patients needing access to chemotherapy and infusion services in our region. The Infusion Center here at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center recently opened its doors to patients, and has already helped a handful of patients receive life saving medicine close to home.

The new Infusion Center was a major point of interest in the planning and development stage of the new renovations within Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center. The Infusion Clinic includes 6 patient bays and 2 isolation rooms. There is new state of the art equipment and each patient bay includes comfortable chairs, personal televisions, room for a loved one to sit with the patient, and marbled glass walls allowing for comfortable privacy.

Patients are often in the Infusion Center for several hours, due to the infusion process. Because of this, their comfort was one of the top priorities while planning. We offer warm blankets, snacks and beverages, and a separate entrance in the back of the hospital. Patients that are here for an extended amount of time are also offered a meal.

Our new Infusion Center was built with our patients in mind. From their comfort to their clinical treatment.
The center provides patients with a broad range of infusion services and treatments such as chemotherapy, blood transfusions, hydration therapy, injections, and more.

"Local physicians can write a script for patients to receive these treatments here, and they won't need to make a trip out of town." states Desiree Reyes, RN. This means that patients can receive this much needed treatment here in town and not have to worry about the exhausting and expensive side effects of travel. Patients in need of chemotherapy services can see Snehal Thakkar, M.D. - Medical Oncologist, who comes to Globe from the Summit Healthcare Cancer Center in Show Low. Dr. Thakkar is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology. He is very good about keeping the patient, and the patient's family, in an open and caring dialogue about their treatment options.
